One of the two lakes in Verulamium Park which are fed by the River Ver

A scheme to improve the water quality, flow and habitat of the River Ver in St Albans is to be examined and costed. Its aim is to return the river to a healthier, more natural state from Verulamium Park to the Sopwell Nunnery.

Slough Borough Council, Colnbrook with Polye Parish Council, Colnbrook RA, Colnbrook Neighbourhood Action Group, DHL, Pippins School all worked on this Clean for the Queen event, mainly drive through fly tipping. Note – this was only 2 months worth of rubbish as the council cleared the Horton Brook in January!

After summer fish kill events, The Colve Valley Fisheries Consultative arranged with Thames Water, The Environment Agency, ColneCAN hosts and local fishing groups to walk the Colne from Croxley to Oxhey Park inspecting and mapping sewer outlets

Last year approximately eight thousand fish were stocked into the river Colne, consisting of Chub, Barbel, Roach, Dace and Bream. These were stocked in four locations throughout the upper and middle

The deadline for applicants for the first funding round for the Tesco Community Scheme grants has been extended to 11th December 2015.
