10. Quarrendon Mill – Channel Recreation

Project description

This project has improved a 1km stretch of the River Misbourne between Amersham and Quarrendon Mill by creating a new river channel that meanders through an agricultural field before it reconnects back to the existing channel.

This new channel is more closely aligned with the rivers historic course through the bottom of the valley. In-channel features called berms will create a more meandering form to the current channel to improve the flow velocity, and the increase variety of microhabitats an improved variety of microhabitats will improve conditions for aquatic wildlife.

Livestock fencing is currently being installed and planting of riparian land is underway.
