22. Thorney Park

Aim: Improve wildlife corridors

Water body: Colne Brook
Project description

Colne Brook at Thorney Park Golf Club: River Restoration

Producing a deliverable plan and permitting for river and habitat restoration at Thorney Park.

The River at Thorney is overgrown and shaded, artificially straightened and lacking the healthy and varied in-channel vegetation and wildlife that it could support if restored. With the support of site management we are creating plans and applying for the necessary permitting to allow the river to be enhanced through the addition of a variety of in-channel features – and we even hope to deliver some practical riparian and tree work this year to improve the river’s health and amenity value ahead of any wider future enhancements.
