Date: Friday 15th March 2024 Time: 10:30am – 3:00pm

Location: Meet at the Three Horseshoes Car Park (Overflow), 48 Pouchen End Lane Bourne End HP1 2RZ

*** Apologies to the volunteers, but unfortunately we have had to cancel this event due to discharge from Berkhamstead sewage treatment works. Repeated discharges make it difficult for us to plan river work. We thank you for your patience. ***

They will be conducting a survey for the invasive plant species floating pennywort throughout the river Bulbourne, an internationally rare chalk stream, following a mapped route, with a trained rivers officer guiding the way. Floating pennywort, a species originally from South America, can quickly spread throughout waterways, leading to loss of local biodiversity and increased flooding risk. It forms large rafts on the surface of the river, that can also prevent recreational use of waterways. Whilst conducting the survey in the river, they will also be removing what they can of this invasive plant species. This event involves a full day in the river doing practical work, so please wear warm clothes!
